A day to go before Super Tuesday tomorrow and its heading for a photo finish, at least on the democratic side. Having followed this race pretty closely there are a few things which i just am not able to understand:

1) The unreasonable hatred for Hillary Clinton, not just from the right, but even from the so called liberal progressive side. There are genuine grievances against Clinton, but the hatred being spewed without reason is just unbearable at times.

2) Meanwhile, the love fest in the Obama camp is reaching (or have reached) cult like proportions. He is being portrayed as some sort of messiah who will bring the ridiculously partisan Republicans together to vote for bringing the troops home, give Universal healthcare (not a chance per Krugman who's words i respect more than the ones from a politician any day), undo the tax cuts etc., by singing Kumbayah!!!

3) If you think the progressive blogosphere was a place of reason and debate, you would be wrong. Anyone who even begins question some of the policies, let alone criticize, of Obama they are shouted down, called names. Either they hate Obama or a Hillary Shill.

Anyways, having followed the campaigns till now and not being an expert in any of fields, let me give two cents worth on this.

a) If Hillary wins the nomination, she has a higher probability of winning John McCain (who is the obvious Republican nominee)

b) If Obama wins the nomination, i won't be surprised if John McCain pulls of a victory.

c) If Hillary wins, she will be reviled by close to 50% of the population, but she will be the best in governing and bringing about change (even if its not major ones). Obama for all his rhetoric has not shown if he can take on the powers that stand against it (just check the NYTIMES report on his handling radioactive leaks in Illinois). To me rhetoric alone is not enough. He doesn't have the record nor does the technique (bringing together) he proposes imo would work.

d) If John McCain wins the presidential elections, GOD HELP AMERICA (and the world)!!!!!

So, yes i root for Hillary because i believe she would bring any change (even minuscule ones) that is at all possible in this country at this point. As for Obama, he is still young and i think he will learn.
